AAUW Dallas, Texas Branch usually meets the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. until noon at the Center for Community Cooperation, 2900 Live Oak Street, Dallas, Texas 75204.

The oldest AAUW branch in Texas, the Dallas Branch was founded in 1908 and awarded its first scholarship in 1912. AAUW Dallas awards college scholarships to high school girls in the Dallas Independent School District. More history

Branch Activities

The Contemporary Literature Group meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. For more information please contact Barbara Davis.

Community Projects

  • College/University Partnership – Southern Methodist University
  • Voter education, participation in Women’s Equality Day
  • In 2011 members of AAUW Dallas arranged a North Texas Interbranch celebration commemorating the 130th Anniversary of the founding of AAUW in 1881.
  • AAUW Dallas awards college scholarships each spring and recognizes winners at an annual luncheon.
  • AAUW Dallas awarded a scholarship for a student to attend the annual National Conference of College Women Student Leaders in 2013 – 2015.


  • Recognized as oldest branch in Texas (1908) with American flag that flew over the U. S. Capitol on January 14, 2012.
  • AAUW Dallas received the REAP Award and Dr. Njoki McElroy, Adjunct Professor of African American Literature at SMU was recognized as Outstanding New Member of AAUW Dallas at AAUW Texas State Convention, April 2012.
  • Completed Lorena Allen Alexander Research and Projects Grant June 11, 2012.
  • Several AAUW Dallas members attended the AAUW Texas State Convention during April 2014 and the branch received the AAUW Texas Branch R.E.A.P. Award.
